DONCASTER ST LEGER 1808

The 33rd winner of the St Leger, held on Monday 26th September 1808 over the 2 miles of Town Moor, was Petronious, a bay colt by Sir Peter out of Louisa, owned by the 9th Duke of Hamilton. A field of 12 runners contested the race, although there were 29 subscriptions of 25 guineas each, which was worth 725 Guineas. (Equivalent to £61,200 in 2017)
